U14 Championship Semi-Final:
For the many people among the fine attendance at Milford last Thursday night (18th July 2002), a real thriller of a contest was served up as the hurlers of Charleville and Newtown produced up a cracker of a game in the U14 Championship semi-final. In the end Newtown were gutted by a Charleville goal from the last puck of the game, victory going to the Reds by a single point.
It was a game which ebbed and flowed throughout and when we went into a seven point lead it looked as if we would reach the final. But a lead of that amount is never a safe one in the game of hurling and so it proved.
We congratulate Charleville on this victory and wish them success in the final. No doubt stirring contests lie in store between these sides over the next few years.
