Busy weekend for Newtownshandrum
While Newtown's Senior hurlers line out in the County Final this weekend, Newtown's camogie
stars will be lining out for the Cork Junior & Senior Camogie teams this Sunday in Croke
Park. Former All-Ireland winning minor captain Niamh Bowles plays in the half-back
position with the Cork Junior team that play Kilkenny. While on the Senior team, Paula
O'Connor has been named at wing back and Caoimhe Harrington at full-forward. The best of

County Senior Hurling Final
The date for what is a huge day in the life of the parish is the Senior County Hurling Final
on Sunday, September 15th at 3.30pm at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. No doubt a huge test for our small
club taking on the might of thirty one times champions Blackrock. Now that our rivalry with
Avondhu is finished we are hoping for the support of the entire division as we strive to
bring the title back to North Cork for the second time in three years.

Seniors win Meelin Tournament - 28th July 2002
The Senior hurlers put in a good second half display at the Meelin Grounds last Sunday evening (28th July 2002), where they overcame Birr of Offaly on a score line of 1-19 to 2-11. Ben O'Connor put on a marvellous display of point taking, at this the home of his grandfather, the late Ben O'Connor, who the Cup was in memory of. The club deserves the highest praise for the splendid work done on their pitch, which had a wonderful sod. It was a pity the weather wasn't kind that night. Our thanks to Meelin for inviting us in their tournament.
