Selection worry for Newtown manager

Newtownshandrum manager Tom Ryan and selectors Patsy Morrissey and Seanie Clifford face a selection headache before naming their side for next Sunday's permanent tsb Cork Co senior hurling championship final against Blackrock.
Right corner-back Gerdie O'Mahony is regarded as a very doubtful starter and it's likely that young Maurice Farrell, introduced in the semi-final victory over Avondhu, will replace him and be given the task of marking David Cashman if the Rockies line out as they did in the semi-final victory over Sarsfields.
However, the real selection poser will come when they sit down to decide on their attacking unit where 2000 captain Donal Mulcahy is challenging strongly for inclusion after recently returning from a stint in Australia.
Mulcahy, who led their side on their historic voyage of two years ago, was introduced as a substitute against Avondhu in the semi-final and against Erins Own in the quarter-final and there's a school of thought now which believes he should be in from the start for this collission of the county's two best sides, but he is more likely to be on the bench again.
