Newtownshandrum Club News 2003
Newtownshandrum GAA Annual General Meeting
The meeting started with a details report from Peter Cotter on all activities
throughout the year.
In Summary
* The senior team had a great year, unluckily loosing in the County Final to Blackrock.
* The Junior team was heavily beaten in the championship. This will have to be improved.
* Peter praised the FAS team for great work done throughout the year and all others who
voluntarily help throughout the year.
Mat Ryan gave a detailed report on the financial position of the club. With over
€70,000 of a turnover each year, great credit must go to Mat for his efforts in this area.
In Summary
* The club is in a healthy financial position, given the amount of money spend on the
new playing field.
* The introduction of Bingo since October has greatly improved the bank balance of the club.
Since October the bingo had made over €5000 profit.
* The "Lord mayor of Newton" raised over €20,000, which is a major contribution.
* John O'Hara deserves special praise for his efforts throughout the year, particularly
with regard to the Lord Mayor event and also the weekly Bingo and Lotto.
