Midelton await in 1st round
The draws for the 1st and 2nd rounds of the Senior Hurling Championship were made in Cork last weekend. Newtown will play Midleton in the 1st round with the loosers to face CIT. Other interesting games include Ballyhead v Cloyne and Delaneys v Blackrock.

Newtown inflict a big defeat
Newtown inflicted a big defeat on Ballyhea in perfect conditions at Charleville on Sat 12th July. Displaying greater hunger all over the field Newtown came at Ballyhea in droves and by half time they had the game virtually sealed as they raced into a 1-08 to 1-02 lead. Goals from Ben & Gerry O'Connor, Diarmaid Naughton and John O'Connor left Newtown with a well deserved victory.

Bitter rivals but still friends....

Mixed fortunes for Seniors ..
The Newtown Seniors had mixed fortunes over the weekend with a comprehensive defeat in the league on Friday night to Erins Own 2-13 to 0-09. On Sunday Newtown were impressive when defeating Adare in the Meelin tournament on a scoreline of 5-18 to 2-08.

Impressive Imokilly next up
Newtown will play Imokilly in the Quarter Final of this years Senior Hurling Championship after they easily brushed aside hot favourites Na Pairsaigh in the 3rd Round. Quarter Final draw..

This years Cork Senior Hurling Championship is wide open. For the first time in many years all 9 remaining teams have a vaild reason to believe they are worthy of becoming 2003 Champions. Read on..

Newtown through to Semi-Final
Newtown had another comprehenisive win in the Cork SHC against Imokilly at Fermoy. They started brightly with an early goal from James Bowles. This was followed quickly by an excellent point from Ben O'Connor. At half time Newtown lead by 1-12 to 0-2. There was no way back for Imokilly at this stage and although they rallied Newtown kept a grip on the game and strolled into the penultimate stage of the Cork SHC.
