JOHN PAUL KING is a major doubt for Newtownshandrum’s All-Ireland club hurling final appearance against Dunloy at Croke Park tomorrow.
“John Paul broke a bone in his hand in a challenge game against UCC last Saturday week,” selector Seanie Clifford revealed last night.
"We were trying to play it down, hoping that he’d recover in time, but at this stage it looks like he’ll be under fierce pressure to make the game.
“John Paul is receiving regular treatment but the injury is not responding as well as we’d like. He’s been keeping up the fitness programme, running this evening with the lads out on the field, but he hasn’t been able to do any hurling training since the injury.
“He’ll have a jab tonight, much as Ben (O’Connor) had before the O’Loughlin Gaels games, so we can fitness-test him on Wednesday morning,” he said.
Ben O’Connor and keeper Paul Morrissey have recovered fully from minor knocks.
