THERE was double joy in the O'Connor household of Newtownshandrum on Saturday as both Paula and her twin brothers Ben and Jerry made it a double championship victory in Killarney when Cork overcame Limerick 4-16 to 1-6 in the second round of the Foras na Gaeilge championship, played ahead of the Guinness hurling qualifier between Cork and Tipperary.

Classy Cork dealt Limerick a harsh defeat, especially in the second half where the Rebels kept the Limerick girls scoreless.

The Rebels were ahead 1-8 to Limerick's 1-6 at the break, Cork scoring the first goal through left full-forward O'Donoghue while Limerick's came from Dympna O'Brien.

The 2002 All-Ireland winners took over in the second half, putting over eight points and netting three goals, Jennifer O'Leary scored Cork's second goal with the other two coming from substitute Sheila Burns.

Cork now face Wexford in the third round on July 24th in Wexford.

Meanwhile Wexford's Juniors defended their Leinster Junior championship title defeating the National League Division Two champions Kildare 5-11 to 0-6 in the Leinster Junior championship final played ahead of the Wexford v Offaly Bank of Ireland football qualifier.

Wexford were well in control by the break, up 3-7 to 0-2 on the Lilywhites.

Captain Rosemarie Breen showed the way with the opening goal after just five minutes.

Full-forward Evelyn Quigley, daughter of the 1968 All-Ireland winning hurling captain Dan Quigley, made it goal number two just five minutes later, with Coláiste Bride, senior and junior All-Ireland colleges winner Leacy netting the Slaney side's third goal just before the break, while Kildare'sopening scores came from two Clodagh Flanagan frees.

A second goal from Quigley after just eight minutes set Wexford up for an All-Ireland semi-final meeting with Munster champions Cork on August 15th.

While Kildare sent over a further four points in the second half, they never troubled the Model county who finished of the day with a fourth goal from Gretta Heffernan with five minutes to go.

A minute's silence was observed at all matches for Sighle Nic an Ultaigh (88), a Life President of Cumann Camogaiocht na nGael, who died last week.
