All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship
Cork 3-12 Galway 1-10
Sunday, 8th July 2001 @ Ballinasloe
Cork had eight points to spare in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship game over Galway at Ballinasloe on Sunday 8th July 2001.
The rebels got off to a great start when Ciara Healy latched onto a long ball from Fiona O'Driscoll in the second minute to score the first goal and a minute later she pointed a free.
The sides were level at half time, 1-5 each and Galway had a further point from a Kavanagh free inside aminute of the resumption. Lynn Dunlea put the sides level before corner forward Carina Harte connected with a long ball from Una O'Donoghue to get Cork's second goal and despite a Veronica Curtin point, Cork had three further points from Una O'Donoghue, Elaine Burke and Lynn Dunlea to put them in front by 2-9 to 1-6 after only nine minutes.
Galway introduced Sharon Glynn and she almost immediately pointed a free but Criona Harte was on target again when she finished off a goalmouth melee. Cork had the last say with two frees from Dunlea and sub Jennifer O'Leary.

Munster and All Ireland championships top the camogie agenda this weekend. Cork and Galway have a backdoor escape route in the All-Ireland Senior Championship.
Lynn and Stephanie Dunlea have rejoined the squad and the introduction of youngsters Jennfier O'Leary, Sinead Buckley, Catherine Corkery, Joanne O'Callaghan to the panel, has brought a fresh look to the outfit. Fiona O'Driscoll, Eithne Duggan, Denise Cronin and Cora Keohane are still as determined as ever.
Galway, whose league form was erratic, have a strong line-up. Sharon Glynn, Tracy Laheen, Lourda Kavanagh and Michelle Glynn will figure prominently.
