Newtown made a good start to their league campaign last sunday with victory against a stubborn Castlelyons outfit that were well up for this one.

Having been transfered to our neighbours Dromina due to our own pitch being unplayable, heavy rain and strong winds made it very though for both players and supporters.

Newtown started brightly and were leading for most of the first half. Goals for John O'Connor and Gerry O'Connor gave us a half time lead of 1 point 2-03 1-05.

Some good scores from Ben and Jerry O'Connor and some great defending from Pat Mulcahy and Gerry O'Mahony gave Netown the spoils by 3 points and a good display given the attrocious conditions.
