Newtown Clinch Historic
Three-in-a-row
Newtownshandrum capped a marvellous year last Saturday (16/12/00)
in Fermoy, by winning the U-21 County A Final for the third
successive year. Having already captured the Senior title just two
months ago, Newtown were in no mood to rest on their laurels and it
was a fitting finale to a tremendous year.

Honesty the best
policy
Leaving Fermoy last Saturday (16/12/00), I had mixed emotions. On
the one hand I was so proud of the super human like performance
given by the Seventeen players who hurled their hearts out for the
parish to bring home the silverware for the third time. But on the
other hand a touch sad to think we are unlikely to see such a fine
under age team come through the ranks again for quiet some time.

Superb Newtownshandrum crush city Rivals
Newtownshandrum 1 - 12 Na Pairsaigh 0-7
Newtownshandrum retained the title they last won 25 years ago, when on heavy underfoot conditions in Fermoy, they tore the form book to shreds to crush a Star studded Na Pairsaigh outfit in a game that might have lacked the nailbitting excitement the drawn game produced, but in its place came a performance from Newtown that oozed class and determination.
